The band that brought more energy, more buzz and more passion than most – have decided to end their nine-year recording and touring career. But not without one massive farewell: a brand new single and an curtain call last Irish appearance at FUEL11.
‘You know you’re going to miss [dweeb]. Whether it was their massive 2010 – with the release of their album ‘Feels Like Dynamite’, their single (‘It’s OK’) and a 39-date tour across six countries in front of over 25,000 people – or their 2008 appearance in the BBC documentary ‘Singing With The Enemy’, the band have been a great influence on a great number of people. The BBC documentary is a case in point: [dweeb] more than passed the test of moving in with a XXX rated punk band, writing a song together and not end up looking either like fools, cult members or nice-but irrelevant weaklings.
‘It was hard and intense,’ explains Tim ‘but God more than exceeded our expectations.’ The band had tonnes of emails and messages as a result, and it underlined just how significant their work – and their music – was. The final months of [dweeb] will be a beautiful adventure. With a bucket-load of tour dates and the release of a brand new single – My New Hero – the band will be doing what they do best: making connections, leaving people smiling, taking their eternally positive message out to the people.
On the bands website they closed their remarks with this…
“Our final word will be this. If you have seen anything good in this band, if there is anything you have admired about [dweeb], then we need you to know that it is all because of Jesus. Eight and a half years ago we set out singing these songs for Him, we have continued that way and we will finish it that way. If you remember one thing about our band remember that it was all about our God. We hope we have in some way helped you to see Jesus a little bit more – if we have, these nine years have been well worth it.”
